Cuckoo clocks that took their inspiration from Swiss chalets started appearing around the end of the nineteenth century.Three different types of chalets were commonly imitated in Swiss cuckoo clocks.
The tradition styles include a Black Forest chalet, a Swiss chalet and a Bavarian chalet. Some of these clocks feature a music box along with the cuckoo bird or small figurines, such as woodcutters and turning water wheels.
